Rabits & Romano leads expansion including addition of 30 living units

Orlando, Fla. - (December 4, 2013) – The Palms of Punta Gorda assisted living facility will celebrate the grand opening of its newly expanded facility on December 12.

The 17,000 square foot project, designed by Rabits & Romano Architecture, Planning and Design and built by Brooks & Freund Construction, expands the facility with the addition of 30 living units, a new commercial kitchen, offices and public spaces.

The Palms of Punta Gorda is an affordable assisted living community and memory care center located at 2295 Shreve Street, Punta Gorda, FL.  With the help of Rabits & Romano and partnership with Florida Engineering Group, the facility now has a new dining room, laundry, living room and covered patios.

The Palms modern commercial kitchen was designed by Gene Kaplan from R.E.D.I. The kitchen has 1,000 square feet of space, including an 11 foot exhaust hood, 100 square foot walk-in cooler and scullery.

“Rabits & Romano and Florida Engineering Group have experience working with the design and expansion of adult living facilities. The firms attention to detail, as well as their ability to stay on schedule and on budget are greatly appreciated,’’ said Tom Martin President, Strategic Properties Management, Inc.- Developer and Owners' Representative of The Palms Of Punta Gorda.

The new facility will have these new design features:

  • Porte cochere

  • Commercial kitchen

  • Dining room

  • Main living room

  • Patios

  • Yards

  • Landscaping

  • Offices

“The challenging part of this project was to avoid disrupting the existing residents during construction, and to fit such a large addition on a tight lot,’’ said Bob Rabits, founder of Rabits & Romano. “The Palms of Punta Gorda is now well positioned to compete favorably with other assisted living facilities.’’
